Sam knows that Marlborough is strongest when everyone can participate. Utilizing her professional background in civic engagement and education, Sam will ensure open government and transparency are at the heart of serving as our next Mayor.

KEEPING YOU INFORMED:

  • Improve the city’s website and procedures around information management to allow all residents to easily find information, including making it more accessible for those with disabilities and who are bilingual.

  • Strengthen and better publicize technology for city government to communicate with the community, including social media, city calendars and a city newsletter.

  • Streamline the process for timely updating of minutes and videos from meetings.

BOLSTERING BOARDS & COMMISSIONS:

  • Develop a transparent process easing the path to apply to boards and commissions, while also diversifying who is participating by actively recruiting residents who wish to serve our city.

  • Restart the defunct Youth Commission and provide opportunities for students to serve on other boards in one-year positions.

OPENING UP GOVERNMENT:

  • Create mayoral community advisory councils to support various policy ideas for the community and explore participatory budgeting.

  • Open up City Hall “outposts” within the community such as at the library and host Mayoral coffee hours for direct contact with residents.

  • Enable hybrid meetings to allow for virtual resident participation in boards and commission meetings.
